How accurate is the census info anyways
I've noticed that the census information shows Warrior as the most common class. But in forums, I always see people saying/complaining that there are too many hunters/rogues, rarely warriors. Why is that?
Last I saw, Census showed that Rogues were the most played class by far (And the majority of those rogues are humans/night elves)... So the forums are pretty correct.
Besides, tanks aren't something to be complaining about.. After all, They're something that is way useful in high-end instances.. Whereas hunters/rogues don't serve as big of a purpose.

Take a look at these two graphs:

http://www.warcraftrealms.com/weeklyact ... actionid=3
These are averages of class counts during primetime hours (6PM - 10PM SERVER TIME). On the Horde side, warriors have always been the more prolific class, but on the Alliance side, you can see where once upon a time there were LOTS more rogues than there were other classes. Now hunters and warriors are fighting for the top slot on Alli servers.
And yes, there are more warriors overall now than any other class, and which isn't surprising to me after seeing what high level warriors have to offer compared to other classes.

When you read the forums you also need to keep in mind that the views there are the perception, not really based on any numbers but on how people feel.
The basic group is based on a minimum of 1 tank, 1 or 2 healers, 1 or more damage dealers. A warrior can be tank or damage dealer so there is room for 1-3 warriors, a rogue or hunter can be damage dealer leaving them with 0-2 slots together which they share with mage's, warlocks and shadow priests (yes, some tank but a warrior with similar level equipment is always a better choice...)
In a large raid you need a certain number of tanks (warriors) and healers (priests and druids mainly) as the backbone, since rogue's and hunters don't really have a minimum requirement for most raids they are again left with whatever slots are left over basically.
Rogue's are a frontloaded damage class with stealth ability, they are great for ganking and solo pvp but don't expect them to ever be sought after in numbers for grouping activities. Hunters are a great solo class with a lot of utility, easily the strongest solo class until end game when warlocks come into their own, the class is designed to be very strong solo but with limited group utility. The strengths of these classes will make a lot of people roll them, the reason the numbers are now starting to favor other classes is that WoW after level 60 is a completely different game and players are starting to adapt to an Everquest style game with raids and gear being the driving force to continue playing.
