What causes the database to get behind in updating?

Post by Niandarin »

I'm a total non-techie but I understand it when explained to me :-) Last night about 1130 PST the database was at 13:30 on 2/5 as the last processed file. I just checked and its at 14:00. So what causes it to stall that badly? Is it a large update file, or has the computer that its running on taken a hit? Inquiring minds want to know (or curious cats :-)

The server where the files are uploaded to are Central time. Are you on Pacific time? There is always a two hour ahead time stamp for me (Pacific time).

Well, what happened this weekend, and I just caught it this morning, was that there was a file that was crashing the update process. So each time the process would start, it would try to load up the offending file, and promptly crash out.

I noticed it this morning, but it looks like it was stuck on that file for 24 hours or so.

I probably wasn't very clear. What I meant was that the database hasn't updated a file since yesterday at 2pm.

Rollie, is it still stuck or is it moving again?

It is moving forward again, but it is now a fair bit behind and likely won't get totally caught up until the weekend.

When are you going to fix char profiles?

Don't mean to sound a !@#$%er, but I like to show off my new gear. :(

FYI, there are other places you can upload your profile to, so that you can show off your gear until Rollie gets it fixed. Granted they're no where near as awesome as his is (and will be when he implements other stuff), but they do the job temporarily.

I'm sorry man, between being very busy with other stuff, and a bit of burn out from the 1.9 madness, I just haven't been able to dig into the profile stuff just yet. I keep planning to put some time towards it, but it just hasn't happened yet. Maybe this week ;p

Is there a problem with the census processing at the moment, seems to be taking longer than usual?
