New US Realms
Apparently someone at Blizzard gets paid per announcement.
I don't understand why they don't just release 5-6 new realms at once, instead of one every 2 days.

Yea they really should of done what they did prior to tbc... and just opened up like 15 new realms for players to transfer lol. The way they are doing it terrible for guilds that want to mass transfer their player base. They only offer the transfer for like 1 or 2 days and that is not enough time to inform your guild that you are going to transfer off and be prepared.
But then again its quite popular so they do have to stop it very quickly before it gets out of hand.

I think the main reason why they don't do it all at once is to avoid what happened when they released a whole bunch of new realms and like a quarter of them ended up being ghost town realms. There's much less chance of that happening if they open them 1 or 2 at a time over a period of time.

Either way that sort of thing is going to happen; it's just better for it to happen to a few servers (relatively) as opposed to happening to a ton of servers. Most servers have some kind of imbalance (even Mal'Ganis, a release server, has been super horde heavy for years), so it's not a new issue. It does suck, but since Blizz doesn't seem to be interested in one faction only xfers to certain realms, I don't see it changing any time soon.Yoleaha wrote:Yes, but then you have servers like Coilfang. Low population because the Horde outnumber the alliance like 7 to 1 and they aren't doing anything to get alliance there. Probably worse now because alliance are abandoning it like crazy.

Blizz are doing single faction transfers off some realms in Europe at least, seen a couple off Horde side of one realm that's about 95% Horde - http://www.warcraftrealms.com/census.php?serverid=566 reckons 99% and ok, alliance submissions are in the red, but 26 censuses run is better than some servers, so population there must be really bad...
Blizzard has limited incoming transfers to realms for specific factions only many times in the past. Its usually just incoming transfers on high population realms.
If a realm is under populated overall then I doubt they will limit the faction.
So yea they can do it if they want to. They don't tho, esp if the realm is already small.

Yeah, there's not much motivation for that, since there aren't many good incentives to move to a small server other than having an easier time being the top guild and no login queues. Even then, it can be tough to keep a guild going when the recruiting pool is minisculeDM. wrote: So yea they can do it if they want to. They don't tho, esp if the realm is already small.

They'd probably be best served by just merging some small servers together. It would jack up server community for awhile, but it would solve a lot of the ghost town server issues. Until the overall population of wow declines quite a bit though, I doubt Blizz will do much of anything other than say "well, paid server transfers are available!"
